Continuing on with the vibes of Feb - more lovely figures on some fancy dinner plates. Layered underglaze transfers and a bit of hand painted embellishment. The colors will pop more after the glaze firing in a few days, can't wait to how these finished lovelies off ❤️🩷

I've been embracing the red, pink, and purples hard this month for my shop (open now). It's easy to get lost in the closeup details of glaze layering and melting. Or the feel of these textures from the crawl glaze- a little bit of sensory joy.

Also, I refuse to let AI take away my love for the em dash - ❤️

Layering transfers on some coaster sets this week. The sketch style of the figures reminds me that I want to spend a little time practicing drawing forms. I struggle more with 2D, in that I don't practice so it takes me forever. Clay is my main medium, but I do sometimes need to draw or paint on it, so making that a bit easier (and faster) would be pretty nice!

Want to match your mug with a little bling? Check out these charm necklaces. This is a new item that was featured this past holiday season, and was one of the items in my 12-day Advent calendar. I wanted something different, but in my own style, which is how I fell into these small charms- made to match the design of my carved mugs. They are just smaller than a nickel and oh so light. I have them sitting on 18" sterling silver or gold plated sterling silver chains. Very lightweight and made for durability, totally love the matchy match vibes for reds and pinks ❤️🩷

Shop update is live! Here are some of the finished video game themed mugs in this group of pieces. I'm a big video game enjoyer, so these speak to me on a personal level. The controllers are even somewhat accurate! I think of this smaller controller version for the Game Cube long ago which fit my hands way better than the normal size. A common problem with controllers if I'm honest. But THESE mugs will definitely fit in all hands.

Here are a few of the underglaze flavored mugs from the latest kiln unload. I really am losing my mind over these crawl and gloop glazes. I was afraid they might add "too much" but they just look and feel awesome. Also,

Layering transfers to make a whole scene is pretty fun too. It reminds me of art class in high-school when we'd cut out images from magazines to assemble into a whole new piece of visual art. One of my friends is an art teacher, I'll have to ask her if she still does this with her students.

These go up tonight on my Etsy shop at 8pm ET, link to the shop is in my bio. The snow has stopped for now, so I don't anticipate any delays in my ability to ship things out, and as always, for local folks, we can arrange local pickups or a drop off depending on how safe driving feels at the moment. My Maine roots are kicking in, snow driving and parking lot donuts, which PSA - now is a great time to take people out to a NOT ACTIVE parking lot and get them a little snow driving practice.

A peek at some of the carved style mugs that will be in my online shop update tomorrow night. I never tested some of these glazes on the dark brown clay prior to glazing them, so I'm incredibly stoked at how cute these turned out.

I'm not really a cutesy style sort of person - definitely more akin to a hobbit type who just prefers to be cozy and loungy. BUT, my birthday is on Feb 15th, so there's always been some flavor of Valentine's day decor and style associated with my bday month. I've grown to love, and actually embrace the cutesy vibes - and you KNOW I love color gradients. So bring on the pinks and purples and red. Also, Bridgerton S4 is out, and I may have been watching all of the previous 3 seasons again while glazing, so there's that.

Process video - decorating a transfer mug with some pink gloop glaze. I can't believe I actually recorded several steps of the process, and more importantly the END RESULT. I'm notorious for not showing the whole thing, I just get too excited making the stuff to stop and record it all.

It...is very satisfying to hold in one's hand. This is what results from taking the time and having the energy (kind of, considering what a shitty week its been) to think about exactly what I wanted to do. Getting lost in some art was necessary.

This baby and others (not all exactly like this) will be available in my next shop update later this weekend - I'm delayed, so its looking like Sunday night. I promise I'll share more.

Soil is always on my mind and this moment was a throwback to my soil judging days while I worked up some dry clay in the studio.

It amazes me thay we've harvested clay and formed it with our hands for upwards of 20,000 years - in modern times we're a bit more spoiled, but there are folks who still make pots from "wild" clay.

One day I'd like to go hunting for my own wild clay to mess with. I do miss it so!

True story, I asked for these scissors as a gift for Christmas from my Mom 😆 I spend a good chunk of time cutting out transfers, and my old scissors weren't 'cutting' it 😏 she was maybe slightly confused, but got them for me anyway (thanks Mom 🥰)

I wanted something that performed well and looked fun and artsy, the reels from @craighillcompany definitely did their job in swaying me. I LOVE them and hope they hold up better than the other ones I've been using.

(I promise you this isn't a paid endorsement or anything, I just really wanted fancy steel scissors, and cutting transfers today is really enjoyable.)

After LOTS and LOTS of time and patience these pas

After LOTS and LOTS of time and patience these past few weeks... new cards for my jewelry. Used HiPaint (android user 👋) and a bit of Photoshop.

The fox is from a while back (when I was on an Alphonse Mucha kick), had to tweak it a bit. I'll admit that I started with hand drawing the fox first, scanned it (lol) so I could do the line work in the apps with my little graphic tablet setup. At one point (several points) I was so zoomed in, I was basically coloring at the pixel scale (help). The arch was infinitely easier and faster.

I am NOT a graphic artist, and have mad respect for anyone who can knock stuff like this out with ease. We all have our honed art skills. I'll stick to ceramics 😆 Next time I'm just gunna commission this.
